Dating Red Flag: Banish Insecurity from your Life
Watch out!
Dating Red Flag: It's all in the details. The devil is in the details. Take heed to what you feel.
Have you ever noticed something about someone, something small that just rubbed you the wrong way?
Maybe it was the way she talked to the hostess at the restaurant. Maybe it was the tone he used with his sister on the phone... whatever it was, it sent a little, nagging sensation through your body. You dismissed it, of course, because he or she was sooooo good-looking and sooooo cool... and because you felt "alive" with them.
Hey, we've all done it. And we all know where it leads... into a giant clusterphuck of loathing and disgust. With every relationship, we learn and grow. Noticing red flags early saves you from the most painful lessons.
Dating Red Flag: Communication
Mr. Talk to a Wall – Tells every little detail about his life within the first few phone calls/dates. He’s more interested in getting his story out then conversing with you… he could have the conversation whether you are there or not! Give him the number to a good therapist. No mystery = turn-off.
Ms. Loudmouth – Wants to fight about every little point. She talks on her cell phone and laughs really loud with the person on the line, even when she’s out with you. She is rude, loud, abrasive, and embarrassing. Slowly walk away and you'll still hear her bitching for miles.
Another of the Red Flags: Too Close, Not Close Enough
Mr. Didn’t Notice – Details are such an important part of being with someone and making them feel special. You must notice things about the person you’re supposedly interested in... that breeds affinity.
Ms. Insta-Girlfriend - Within a few weeks, she is saying “I love you”, planning the wedding, introducing herself as Mrs. So-and-So. She cares more about the commitment than she'll ever care about you. Refuse to validate her; tell her to value herself.
Still More Flaming Red Flags: Agreeableness
Ms. Reactor – You wait a couple days to call her and she lets you have it… early in the relationship. Someone who doesn’t understand seduction… the push/pull, the patience and beauty involved in delaying gratification is no fun. Say peace out.
Mr. No Opinion – A guy who agrees simply to be agreeable is a HUGE turn-off. A woman wants to be challenged a little bit. She also wants to know that the person she’s with is not afraid to tell her when she steps out of line. Wusses simply suck.
The Worst Dating Red Flag: Stingy Peeps
Ms. Been Hurt Before – You didn’t do it, but every conversation starts with, “One of my exes used to…” If she’s not over her past, she’s not ready for a relationship with you.
Mr. Cheapskate – Ungenerous with money = ungenerous with attention. They do not have to give their money away to everyone, but take notice if they don’t reach for their wallet in a group setting, or if they leave the waiter a shitty tip. This guy is a prick. Run.
